Review EPIPHONE Vintage Olympic Body neck Project Usa

The Epiphone Olympic 1965-1967 model with the serial number 656667 is a vintage gem that exudes charm and timeless appeal. This guitar features a classic solid mahogany body, renowned for its rich, resonant tone and superior sustain. The body shape is that of the Epiphone Olympic, a design that offers a comfortable playing experience with its slim waist and rounded lower bout.

The neck of this 1965-1967 Epiphone Olympic is crafted from mahogany as well, and it boasts a SlimTaper D profile for easy playability. The fingerboard is made of rosewood, adding to the guitar's aesthetic appeal and providing a smooth, responsive surface for playing. The scale length is 24.75 inches, which is ideal for a balanced feel and playability.

The 1965-1967 Epiphone Olympic 656667 is equipped with a set of original-era Kalamazoo-made humbucker pickups. These pickups deliver a warm, rich tone with excellent clarity, making them perfect for a wide range of music styles. The pickup selector switch and tone and volume knobs are located on the upper bout of the guitar, providing easy access for on-the-fly adjustments.

The guitar has a vintage sunburst finish, which has aged beautifully over the years, adding character and depth to its appearance. The Epiphone Olympic 1965-1967 model with serial number 656667 is a true testament to the craftsmanship and quality that Epiphone is known for. Whether you're a collector, a musician, or simply a lover of vintage guitars, this 1965-1967 Epiphone Olympic 656667 is an investment that will not disappoint.

Pros of buying a 1965-1966 Epiphone Olympic guitar (656667):

1. Vintage appeal: These guitars have a classic look that exudes a certain charm and character that modern guitars may lack.

2. Tone: The mahogany body and set neck of these guitars can produce a rich, warm tone that is highly sought after by many players.

3. Affordability: Compared to some other vintage guitars, the Epiphone Olympic is relatively affordable, making it a good option for those looking for a vintage guitar without breaking the bank.

4. Rarity: These guitars are not as common as some other vintage models, which can make them more desirable to collectors and enthusiasts.

Cons of buying a 1965-1966 Epiphone Olympic guitar (656667):

1. Condition: Vintage guitars, especially those that are over 50 years old, can have wear and tear that may require repairs or restoration. This can add to the cost of the guitar and may impact its playability.

2. Playability: Some players may find the action (the distance between the strings and the fretboard) on these guitars to be high, which can make playing difficult.

3. Tuning stability: Older guitars may not tune as stable as newer models, which can be frustrating for players who want to keep their guitar in tune.

Conclusion:

The 1965-1966 Epiphone Olympic guitar (656667) is a great option for players who are looking for a vintage guitar with a unique tone and character. It has a classic look and a warm, rich sound that can be hard to find in modern guitars. However, it is important to be aware of the potential cons of buying a vintage guitar, such as wear and tear, playability issues, and tuning stability. If you are willing to invest the time and money to restore and maintain the guitar, it can be a great addition to any collection.

Recommendation:

If you are considering buying a 1965-1966 Epiphone Olympic guitar (656667), I recommend doing your research and thoroughly inspecting the guitar before making a purchase. Look for any signs of damage or wear and tear, and consider having a guitar technician examine the guitar to ensure it is in good condition. Additionally, make sure to set a budget for any necessary repairs or restoration work, and be prepared to invest time and effort into maintaining the guitar to keep it in top shape. If you are willing to do this, the 1965-1966 Epiphone Olympic guitar (656667) can be a rewarding and enjoyable addition to your collection.

Details:

The truss rod is working fine and there are no breaks or repairs to wood. All mahogany with weight relieved or chambered body and cap. The rod turns in both directions and neck responds.

This repair did hold string tension at standard tuning but it is weak and you can see move a bit when applying pressure. This is a definite project for Luther or someone in training. You might be able to find some marks on close in hand inspection and a bit more visible at the waist but it is nice start custom project.

The neck has a slim taper profile, not thick. It suffered a head stock break and has weak amateur repair.

Functionally and cosmetically, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this guitar body neck. This is a project for skilled Luther or repair person Epiphone Olympic save me. Used 2008 Gibson Les Paul studio body and neck project.

If you bid or buy please follow through. The truss rod is bent as you can see in one or two of photos below.

No parts included, only what you see in the photos.
